Been to GP

He thinks I have two problems one of which is IBS.

How, and why do I have this and will I have it forever?

TIA

IBS is one of those catch-all terms for when they've ruled out anything specific. If it gets really bad they may want to do bloods or colonoscopy to rule out Crohns disease or anything more serious, but usually it seems to be down to stress and/or eating stuff that disagrees with you.

Eliminating obvious stresses and looking to see if certain foods make it worse and then avoiding them may get rid of it or help a lot. In my case I'm usually OK as long as I avoid saturated fat (especially deep pan pizza, chinese takeaway, icecream, lots of cheese...)

Peppermint tea and massage can help a lot, too.

Having bloods done next week.

He has given me some peppermint stuff to take.

Hopefully will be okay very soon.

Thanks.
