Stupid dh left an oxygen cyclinder on the floor I kicked it (yes its huge and yes I should have been watching where I was going).
Now my little toe is very swollen and going a very dark shade of purple. Its really sore and walking is very painful.
Tomorrow I have a 10 hour shift mostly standing on my feet.
How can I stop it hurting? I have taken paracetamol which have not done much.
Please help me

Cold compress.

Sit or lie down and rest your foot in a raised position.

Ibuprofen better than paracetamol, as it is anti-inflammatory.

Arnica.

Oooch!

Strap it fairly firmly to the next-door toe & wear sturdy shoes with rigid soles.

I broke my little toe and it killllllls x sadly you can do nothing - codene helped a teeny bit. You have my sympathy

cheshirekitty · 07/04/2009 20:32

Buddy strap it to the toe next to it (as liath says). Keep an eye on the circulation, colour and sensation.

Is there any way you can cancel your night shift?

mummytopebs · 07/04/2009 20:44

Agree you should def try and cancel your night shift

Go to A&E woman! It might need something doing to it. Let them x-ray it! Go on, off you go.

PullMyFinger · 07/04/2009 20:52

I broke a toe last year

VV painful

No treatment, not even strapping

Paracetamol didn't really help, placebo more than anything, took about a week for the pain to subside

Horrid, poor you

FluffyBunnyGoneBad · 07/04/2009 20:54

Seriously, it depends which bit you broke and how it's broken. If you've broken a metatarsal then it will need something done to help it heal. Go to A&E and get an x-ray.
