need help about injection...please can anyone help???

please can someone put my mind at ease

i am having fertility treatment,

i am having injections below my navel

are there any veins there?
and if the drug was injected in, could it come out if blood oozed out when needle was removed

im not making much sense...

the needle went in okay, but once it was pulled out, blood came out, so is that cos needle hit a nerve?

and i really really need to know, if the blood did come out, did the drug come out with it?

if someone could help, i would be very very grateful, especially the question about the drug coming out or not

Im presuming the injection is subcutaneous, if yes then there are no major blood vessels that close to the surface. Many times there will be a slight bleed after injection. Do you not draw back to check prior to injecting?
You should still have got the majority of the substance injected, dont worry.

donbean, im sorry i dont know what subcutaneous means, but if you mean is it a small needle, yes it is a small needle and not a large needle

what do you mean about 'drawing back' sorry i know i sound thick, but am not medicaly knowledged in this way

Sub cutaneous just means in the subcutaneous layer, just under the skin. If its a small needle then it probably is.
All it is, is that i always just pull back the plunger when the needle is in and nothing should come back. If blood comes into the liquid then you have hit a blood vessel so should take needle out and put it half an inch over.
As i said, its quite common for a bit of bleeding, you will still have got the injection in the right spot. You did it corretly, try not to worry,its quite normal.

This has got to be a very worrying time for you, you dont want anything to go wrong, i completely understand.
There will always be some one here who can help so you should never sit worrying, always post hun.

Yes, the injection will have gone into the layers there. In future just press gently on the spot with a bit of tissue.
I dont know any thing about fertility drugs but i give injections on a daily basis at work. I never worry that the drug hasnt got through when there is a bit of bleeding.
Sorry, im not putting your mind at rest at all here. Is there a help line you can phone to just check if you are not happy?

Im only saying "bit" of blood because unless its torential and wont stop within a minuit or so, then i worry. Otherwise this happens to me allot and im dead good at giving injections!!!

Just to let you know, I've posted on your other thread - glad you seem reassured now, keep posting - we'll be there every step of the way for you!!

When I was having fertility treatment I had my injections in my bum and I always bled so straight after inj had to have some cotton wool on standby and press down on it for about 30 secs. My injs were always given by nurse and they never thought it was any problem. Try to relax and if still worried ring your clinic on monday just to be sure.

bubbly, yes I did have success, I was on pergonol but I was on it for 2 years before getting pregnant with dd and then again for just over 1 year before getting pregnant with ds (but I do have PCOS).

bubbly, i have diabetes & inject myself 4 times a day (much more when i'm pregnant), using an insulin pen. i almost always inject in my tummy (more convenient & accesible!) - quite often it bleeds & it isn't a problem at all. hope i've reassured you.

i think yesterday i was panicking because i have bled a little when having injections before but yestereday the blood literally oozed out thus making me worried that the drug came out too

i think your very brave to take injections every day, must be hard on you...especialy 4 times..wow...i was moaning this morning that my belly feels all bruised...will stop moaning now

dont' be embarrased bubbly. obviously i'd rather not stick needles in myself, but hey, i have to, so i just get on with it! pregnancy is a big PITA though, lots more injections, & doctors get really freaked out when i have bruises on my bump.... hope you are pregnant soon too .
