constant swollen glands

about 4 weeks ago now i started with a sore dry throat and gland in back throat swelled up and over next two days i couldnt swollow. I went to the doctors and she said i had a few white spots on my throat so it could be infection so gave me 7 days worth of antibiotics. This seemed to work however about a week ago it seemed to swell up a little but wasnt much and so thought i might just be coming down with a cold/virus but today my ear and throat again are getting worse and its starting to hurt when i swollow again. Anyone any suggestions??? I cant go on antibiotics again i have a major op in 2 weeks and you need a 6 week gap between them and op so if anyone has any advice please???

If you have a throat infection you need antibiotics, it could be you need a second lot to clear it. If you aren't well I doubt you could have an op anyway.

well my swollen gland on my right disappeared yesterday and was replaced by tonsillitis on my left!!. This may be difficult to explain seen as i had my tonsils out when i was nine. But they didnt take all the left one out and it seems that there is still half of it there, i dont know if this has happened to anyone else but is extremely painful right now. Im gargling salt water, sucking strepsils antiseptics and taking ibuprofen in the hope this clears up, going to give it til next week see how i go. have had my op cancelled twice already and am determined third time lucky.
