Any ideas/similar experience? No AF for 50 days

Story so far....

I'm 46, have a 15mth DD conceived naturally if unexpectedly. Cycle pre DD was 28 days regular as clockwork. AF returned within 6 weeks of birth (despite breastfeeding) and has yet to get back into a regular pattern, lasting anywhere between 25-33 days with a couple of longer and shorter ones thrown in. The longest cycle previously was 39 days.

2 home pg kits and a blood test at GPs have all come back negative (Days 31, 40 and 45). Doctor can't find any sign of cysts. Boobs have gone up a cup size and have been uncomfortable for about 3 weeks. Nausea and some vomiting too for about same lenth of time. Frequent cramps and twinges (back and stomach). Very hormonal which is very unusual for me - have never suffered from PMT. Very tired but no increase in work/family life which would explain it.

Had blood tests just before Xmas which showed ovaries to be working well and was told I was a long way off menopausal.

Has anyone had a similar experience? Got any ideas what might be going on?

Erm, have you been using contraception?

CherryChoc · 06/04/2009 15:50

She said 5 pg tests have come back negative.

How odd. Can humans get phantom pregnancies?

twoluvlykids · 06/04/2009 15:59

I don't know.

If it helps, I had 2/3 negative preg tests in the early stages of 2nd pregnancy.

Let us know - you and I are the same age, & I know how I'd feel about pg!!

We have been ttc twoluvlykids for the last 8 mths.

Cherrychoc - good point I did start to wonder myself but I know from the pg tests that I'm not so kind of ruled it out. I vaguely remember from O Level history that Queen Mary had one in Tudor times but other than that...
