Had a fall last night, went to A&E this morning, been x-rayed. Not broken or fractured, but the pain is unbelievable. i can't put any weight on it, it is agony.managed to borrow some crutches from a friend.

have had some codydramol, got my leg elevated, but it is so painful.really throbbing, if i try to put my foot down, it makes my head spin with the pain

what can i do to improve things and how long can i expect the pain to last? nurse advised i put weight on it and use it,but i can't

thanks x

Oh that is good. My week has been ok thanks. Met an old college friend who was visiting and took the kids to her aunty's farm, went to kidsplay the other day when the weather was crap and shopping in town later for uniform and shoes. Also been trying to illustrate my children's story for english and work on 2 essays. I am fairly happy with my story though it is v cheesy but my drawing is not great!

well so I thought but he did the same with a packet of crisps the other day and when I asked him he admitted to snaffling other things before! He was even sneaky enough to hide the papers under the sofa so I wouldn't see them in the bin!

We have had a long chat and I am not letting him go to his friends birthday party. He also didnt get an ice cream when Donald got one today. Fingers crossed it is nipped in the bud!

Hope you are having a nice time over the road

'Generally the pain and swelling is worst over the first few days, and if it gets much worse after this you should seek further advice. You may find you are getting a bit better and then put a bit of extra strain on it and worsen your symptoms a little. However, slowly things will get better.'

From Here

Is your leg a different colour or swollen? You know what to look for but sprained ankles do carry an elevated risk of DVT.

LIZS · 11/04/2009 17:31

If you aren't flexing the ankle and walking normally cramping pain/stiffness in the calf can follow. I think a trip to physio would really help, especially if the bruising and swelling is going down .

LuluisgoingtobeanAunty · 12/04/2009 20:17

thank you for the concern i used a hot water bottle on it last night, and kept stretching it and took a valium last night and after the stiffness had worn off this morning, am delighted to say it is about 80 % better!! so if it continues improving, then i thikn i should be ok in another few days, but will keep it supported until it feels a bit stronger. much appreciated
