Anyone got a "windy bug"?

Hi all,
My family seem to have come down with a weird, trapped wind, type of bug. It would be funny if it wasn't quite so uncomfortable.
I just wondered if anyone else out there has had a strange, indigestion, gas at both ends, (sorry if tmi)type of illness recently?
It's also accompanied by a fair bit of sneezing and runny noses.
Any others? Or are we just freaks?

I've had it in the upper-stomach area for 4 mths now, and tbh am going a wee bit crazy with it.....have been scanned for gallstones (none) and am now waiting for endoscopy to see if it's h pylori.

hi kaytee, my family all have something that sounds exactly the same. not serious enough for anyone to be off work/ school, but uncomfortable and persistent. strange huh?

Kayteee · 02/04/2009 22:41

that's just about it, Pendulum! Very odd, we were wondering about the water..who knows? It seems to be clearing but we've never had anything quite like it before. Maybe we ate too many baked beans

Hope you get help with yours Bucharest. Best of luck to you.

A friend and family had this (possibly picked up from a centre parcs pool..) which was missed for ages as you normally catch it abroad. Lots of very smelly farts involved.

Cut and paste:

Giardia lamblia is a microscopic parasite that is associated with
water and infected animals.

What are the symptoms?
The symptoms may vary, but yours may have included:
§ diarrhoea, particularly smelly;
§ stomach pain;
§ loss of appetite; and
§ occasionally nausea.
People and animals can carry Giardia lamblia without showing
symptoms.
Symptoms usually start 7-10 days after becoming infected.

my ds was complaining aobut the windy bug at the beginning of the week.
i could think of no remedy though.

I don't think it is giardia, there is no diarrhoea involved (if so I wouldn"t have sent them to school)

just a griping tummy ache and back ache, and lots of, um, wind.
