We are all poorly, me, DH and 3 dc's. We all have colds and really sore throats.

Anyone got a good cure please or anything to help sooth it

Huge sympathies, my dp got so bad with tonsillitis last week he was nearly admitted with it! Take the best painkillers you can and take them regularly. (My dp ended up on prescribed codeine 'cos he couldn't swallow - this is rare!) Drink as often as possible to keep the throats lubricated, iced water or ice lollies can soothe, warm drinks / soup relax the throat and help a bit. Suck pastilles - either throat pastilles or just sweets (sugar free ideally for kids) - the increased saliva also helps lubricate the throat and has antibacterial qualities. Lots of gentle distractions to keep minds off the pain. Hope you all feel better soon!!!

I was told that I wouldn't get sore throats once I'd had my tonsils out when I was 18

Hope DP is better soon.

thanks, he's doing much better now. Apparently one of the reasons they rarely take tonsils out nowadays is because you can still get throat infections anyway - seems v. unfair!
