The stuff they use is horrendous! I don't think I've ever had to taste anything so bad. I removed mine and swilled my mouth out with mouthwash but it took a while for the taste to go.

candyfluff · 26/03/2009 18:55

i think most of it has come out and have been rinsing with hot salty water and using mouthwash ,do you have idea how long it took -its driving me nuts

Once I'd taken all the brown gunk out of the socket, the taste went away within a day I guess.

Keep rinsing!

I had mine dressed after 3 days of agony. Yes, it helped instantly but it came out the next day and was back to square one.

Dry socket???? I'm having a wisdom tooth removed soon - is this related? I'm terrified of the dentist!!

Goober · 26/03/2009 22:11

CJMummy. Google dry socket. It is something you need to be aware of. It doesn't always happen.

candyfluff · 27/03/2009 07:50

its more common in lower teeth extraction and if you suck through a straw and if you smkoe or on the pill ,you will know you have it coz the pain is terrible

I got this when I had my 4 wisdom teeth removed. It was truly horrendous. The worst pain EVER. Mine were dressed twice and the stuff they use is vile. Looks like tobacco to me, the taste stayed with me for days.

I did not eat for about 2 weeks so lost some weight though!
