Tooth Abccess so had tooth removed... please advise!

Just had a back tooth out after having an abccess for about 6 months, not cleared with two courses of antibiotics. Now, when does the abccess lump go?

I'm starting to worry cos it's still there even though my tooth is out!

did they drain the abscess?

ouchy!! I would have thought that they X-rayed? when you had the tooth out? That would rule out anything sinister. Is it still painful? Might be scar tissue - all a guess

Hi, If you've only just had the tooth out it is normal for the abscess/lump to still be there.
The tooth was the source of the infection and now it has gone your body will heal up the area where the abscess is but it will take time- usually a couple of weeks.

they xrayed it about a month ago. It's definitely an abscess because it had started to drain itself through a weird boil looking thing on my gum. Anyway, I've got another appointment with another dentist next week for a second opinion.
