Very irregular periods, Menorrhagia, any heard of it?

Ok so my periods have been irregular for a long time, can go 3-4 months without having one. Have got 2 DD's so know I am fertile.

Went to doc today as want to find out why I am like this and he is sending me for blood tests to check hormone levels, thyroid and a few other things. He mentioned something called menorrhagia, does anyone have this?

Thanks

Menorrhagia means very heavy periods. Are they heavy? Perhaps he meant oligomenorrhea which means infrequent ones.

Well very heavy for the first few days and then they are ok. yes maybe that was what he meant, got to go back next week after bloods have been done.

having a mirena can help this problem, i had irregular periods that would go on for weeks and the coil sorted out the problem pretty quick

I did think about the coil, have tried the pill several times but it turns me into a depressed monstor so completely put off that now.

The thing is though there is obviuosly something not right down there for me to be having periods every 3-4 months and I want to know what it is. When I got pregnant with DD2 I didnt have a period since the september and found out I was pregnant 3 days before xmas, how does that work?! I am obviuosly fertile but it worries me if we try for another i wont know when I am fertile like most 'normal' people!
