ok, so i got a rash 3 weeks ago, started on my arms and was not too concerned with it TBH, this rash has now spread to my legs, arms, torso and is now creeping onto my breasts and down my legs. The itching is horrendoous and its starting to scar where im itching so much.
the rash itself is like pin head blisters which obviously pop and weep then scab.
I have had this now for 3 weeks but noone in my family despite having close contact has started to get this rash.
I do plan to go to doctors tomorrow as its now starting to get me down (i cant take kids swimming or sleep well! and clothes are covered in blood from scratching!)
does anyone know what it could be?

BONKERZ, it sounds horrendous, but it doesn't sound much like scabies. That is usually in the skin webs (between fingers and toes, buttocks, waist area, under breasts etc). It is also very "catching" so close family members would be likely to develop symptoms quickly. Are you stressed? Could it be psoriasis? I am sure that your GP will help tomorrow. Good luck.

thanks shy talk, personnally i dont think it is scabies, i have looked at pics and it doesnt seem to fit.

Im not stressed, havent changed diet or washing powder etc so cant be allergy related. I do suffer with psorisis on scalp and have a bit on top of my feet but the stuff all over my body doesnt look same as rest.

Im so sore now from scabs cos of itching and fed up of looking disgusting! Its very noticable now and clothes hurt!

have been taking piriton every day for 3 weeks! it stops the itching for about an hour but thats it, the rash is still red and sore!
I have been really keeping an eye on everything thinking it could be allergy but nothing has changed and an allergy doesnt explain why it has been spreading for 3 weeks!

Have you been ill recently - it could be a reaction to that.

Scabies is like the spots you describe - but is extremely contageous and is therefore highly unlikely if nobody else has developed it.

BONKERZ · 22/03/2009 23:24

i havent been ill recently at all, have been very tired lately though but think thats just cos im doing less.

Funnily enough, dd1 (only4) had a rash like this for about a month.

GP diagnosed post-viral rash (hence my last post) but I hadn't noticed she had been ill - just tired.

Nothing really helped (including cortizone prescribed by GP). It just eventually went on its own.

Is it all on one side of your body? - sounds somewhat like shingles to me. This is what I had when pregnant with ds2. Started on my arm and then spread all around one side of my body. I scratched and now sadly have a scar on my upper arm. If all else fails try calamine lotion. I hope it's nothing serious.

BONKERZ · 23/03/2009 07:57

i did consider shingles at first cos it was just on one arm and in a sraight line but it is now all over my body! have an appointment at 9.30 so will see what doc says! Will need alot of cream though cos i have a huge surface to cover! LMAO

I had pretty much exactly the same about 3 years ago. I'd flown from UK to New York & then on to Toronto. 1st DR. said shingles, so I had to spend $370 on medication. It wasn't & it just got worse. A & E in Toronto were baffled. Said if it was summer they would say poison ivy but it was in the middle of freezing winter! They gave me steroids to keep it at a bay on flight home. Dr. in UK didn't know - sent me to A & E. They didn't know and injected me with steroids. It just got worse & worse and having the soles of your feet itching along with the rest of your body is horrendous! I kept damping down with cold water, patting dry & using Johnson's Baby Powder. Saw specialist who reckoned it was an allergy - but nobody could find out what I was allergic to. I keep it under wraps with 10% hydrocortisone & prescription only anti-histhamine. It rarely bothers me now - but took about 8 months to get sorted! So GOOD LUCK!!!

Scabies usually starts on the hands. It can be all over, and doesn't always look like the pictures, as it depends on how the individual reacts to it. It is very very itchy, and difficult to get rid of, but relatively unusual.

It's more likely to be an allergy, to washing powder for example.

Let us know what the doctor says.

BONKERZ · 23/03/2009 10:12

well apparently it is scabies! Although i dont have much faith in the doctors!!!!

first she diagnosed scabies and gave me prescription, but pharmacist said that what had been precribed no longer existed, the pharmacist then questioned my rash and actually took me back into doctors. Pharmacist reckons its severe psoriosis and told doc to double check, she said its odd i have not infected anyone else in 3 weeks and also that i have open wounds which is not characteristic apparently!
Doctor tried to give me an alcohole rub but pharmacist pointed out i have open wounds!
Doctor has now given me a strong derma cream and told me to apply overnight and go back in 3 days if rash still bad!
