Have had lots of discomfort down one arm lately, sort of hot, burning feeling and very tender in the elbow. At one point it was twinging down my back, too - that's all eased up but have a very painful, stiff area on my hand. Moving my thumb hurts - picking up DS2 while lying on the floor in Sainsburys (him, not me) was agony. Arthritis is in the family, and my hands already look a bit knobbly knuckled.
Is there ANYthING preventative that's any good? Have read mixed reviews of glucosamine. Feel quite sad that it's flaring up already.

it might not be that

I had a similar thing and it was a combination of carpal tunnel syndrome and tendonitis (actually cannot remember the specific name but it's something quite common with people with children to do with the way you pick children up - sort of with that thumb open grip...think it's called de quervain's tendonitis or something like that).

I would go and see the doc first and just get some tests done. At least you will know if it is some sort of arthritis or not.

Thanks for that, you've made me feel a bit better. Will go to see dr.

fingers crossed it isn't

I know that feeling though, with something running in the family, you feel sure you're going to get it!
