Dark green poo

It's probably already been asked, but I can't find an answer anywhere. My ds has just done a really huge and very dark green poo (almost black). He's bf except for a 4oz formula top up at night. Normally all his nappies are greenish, but this one was REALLY dark. Why?????

age?

probably ok. does he seem ok

Baby/toddler poo comes in a whole shocking rainbow of colours, from gaudy yellow to meconium black, unless he had trouble passing the poo or seems to be in pain, I would just put it down to one of those baby things.

He's 18 weeks. Cries a lot, but doesn't strain to poo.

Sounds like a healthy one to me. DD used to do Gold ones!

Oh I just remembered. That darkness could be him passing the last of the nutrients from when he was inside you. I'm pretty sure that came out around the 12-18weeks time. May be wrong of course.

sort of like the hen in jack and the beanstalk?

HappyDaddy · 20/04/2005 09:34

Yep, except these were from SMA Gold and not real!! I did try taking them to the bank but they were strangely uninterested...
