Help please, does anyone know what these symptoms could be?

Right, have no thermometer in the house but am pretty certain I have a temperature, am much hotter than DH and I 'feel' hot to touch e.g. my back feels very warm but not sweaty at all. I'm absolutely freezing, have a raging headache, have taken two co-dydramol and while the pain is better its still quite intense, I have sensitive and enlarged lymph nodes on my neck, armpit and groin and my whole body, but especially my trunk is much more sensitive to touch, like, I'm much more aware of the fabric from my clothes on my skin.

Any ideas? Much appreciated

Shingles?

Donk · 15/03/2009 00:01

Fever can cause skin to be hypersensitive, regardless of cause.

Shingles tends to be limited to one nerve only, sometimes 2 or 3 adjacent nerves can be affected, but it is almost always on one side of the body (this does not fit your whole body symproms) A rash usually follows 2-3 days after the pain starts.

Not much help in identifying what you have I an afraid.

no cold symptoms then? Otherwise I'd have said flu.
Could be glandular fever I suppose but have never had it so not sure.

whyme2 · 15/03/2009 00:03

It sounds like a flu type virus. We've all been ill with it this week. Take paracetomol and go to bed and make sure dh pampers you.
Hope you are well soon.

'flu does hit quickly.
It doesn't always have cold symptoms. Have you any muscle aches?

thumbwitch · 15/03/2009 00:08

actually yes, that's true what Donk says - last time I had flu, the first symptoms were raging headache, feverishly hot yet shivering and unable to feel warm, and dreadful lassitude/lack of energy. The coldy symptoms hit the next day.

janeite · 15/03/2009 00:12

if it is real flu you would need to be in bed and wouldn't be able to do anything else as it makes you feel beyond wretched. I said shingles as it seems to be around at the mo but perhaps it's the beginning of flu.

janeite · 15/03/2009 00:13

But get better soon, whatever it is.

treedelivery · 15/03/2009 00:16

Flu - I can't bear clothes moving on my skin when I have it. And my skin is hot and dry to the touch. And you really do feel very very poorly indeed, so much so you want to shout at people who say they have flu when they sneeze. Its the pits. Hope it 'aint so! Get well soon.

solowitch · 15/03/2009 02:10

Flu because that's exactly how I felt two days ago...now though I have the dripping nose too.

thumbwitch · 16/03/2009 12:49

peapod - has it turned into 'flu then?
