dental abscess experiences

my face has swollen up and feels hot and heavy do you think it needs to be drained?

My DH had an abscess a few weeks ago. It was sheer agony for him and his face was quite swollen. He had to go and get it lanced in the end. I would definitely suggest you get and see someone urgently because if it is an abscess it could burst and cause further problems, such as blood poisoning.

O gawd yes - my preference would be antibiotics asap and then possibly a root canal filling, others would advise whipping the offending tooth out!

Get thee to a dentist, DO NOT let it fester

yes you probably need some anti-biotics too, rinsing with hot water helps also ibuprofen with codeine. poor you.

got ab's but coz i had a tummy bug over night they got sicked up
have seen the dentist friday
booked in to have it out next week
have a metallic taste in my mouth too
probably the infection
doctor said to get some mouthwash

have you tried to take the tablets again yet?

i had a metallic taste with my abscess and the ab's did take a couple of days to kick in.

painkillers do help also hot water rinses.

what painkillers do you think best paracetamol or ibuprofen?
hot?salt water rinse you mean?

I found aspirin better than paracetamol or ibuprofen, for some reason. Also salt water mouth washes.

Lots of sympathy to you - abscesses are AGONY

yes salty water is ok.

i remember taking nurofen with codeine and paracetamol alternatley as it was such agony.

face has started to go down now
just wondering if anyone who has had an abscess got weird aching eye on the side of the effected tooth ?
im not sure if its my eye thats the problem or the abscess causing it ,have an eye test booked for next week anyway
