Question about home diabetes tests

Hi,

I just did a home diabetes test because I wee a lot and it is often yellow, and I am tired a lot. I am ttc but def not pregnant at moment.

Anyway I did the test and the colours on my results were the lowest of the 'high' section. Then I read the instructions (stupid me) and I was supposed to test after 8 hours of no food - I had a sandwich about 2 hours ago). Does this mean my results probably not valid and likely to be okay if I hadn't eaten? Does taking metformin affect it?

Thanks

Yes, and yes.

Ah - how does metformin affect it - does it mean I can't trust the results?

Metformin is given to diabetics to lower blood sugar.

If you suspect you are diabetic you need to see your GP who will arrange a fasting blood sugar test (may have to stop taking metformin prior to the test).

I would not rely on a home diabetes test to detect whether I was a diabetic.
