Has anyone had a bad back. I have had a aching back for a week but now it's so bad I can't move. Doctor gace me diclofenac and coedine but hasn't helped yet. Doctor also gave me diazepam for muscle spasm but worried about taking it as have to function to get my eldest son to school.
Finding it hard with 2 kids and husband away at the races. My mum has come over for a short time today but has to get back as my dad is not well.
How long do you thing this will last, anyone had anything similar

My sympathies!

DS was on the same drugs as you last year - including Diazepam, and he was only 12.

An osteopath really helped to loosen him up a bit, but the BEST advise we had was to ICE, ICE & ICE again. It is a better anti-inflammatory than some drugs.

Put an ice pack on for as long as you can bear, then alternate with a hot pack (wheat bag or hot bottle) for 10 mins, then back to Ice. It does help.

Also, some gentle rocking exercises. Lie on your back, bend knees up, together, and gently rock legs from side to side, as far as you can go without pain, helps to loosed muscle spasms.

Also, if you can borrow a back-friend rest for sitting on - they saved DS! Meant he could last a few mins in the car or sit at the table for a few minutes at a time (he was almost totally immobilised for some time).

Hello,

I would see a chiropractor. Drugs are not really the answer if the bones/mucles/cartilege are not in their right places.

Hello conway

sympathies

I hurt my back 8 years ago, well, it's more or less better now, but I have to be careful.

I had diazepam for the spasms, but only for a few days.

when you're a bit more mobile, go to a Pilates class, and make it a regular part of your life, because back pain is really hard to complete eliminate.

For me, I could hardly wipe my own bum, it hurt so much!
