does balanitus need antibiotics?

my son 4 and half has been diagnosed with balanitus and been prescribed antibiotics but the doc said he may get it again so i dont want to have to keep giving antibiotics...has any one had any experience of this? thanks

yes - dh had it when he was a boy - ended up getting circumcised at 33. Take the docs advice i wish the ils had when dh was little

irrc, ds1 didnt have ABs when he had it, and have not had a recurrence. I suppose it depends if there is bacterial infection, or not

thanks..how would you know if theres an infection?

i'm not sure......dh says it smells a bit odd, discharge from it too, itchyness and feeling sore too
