Mid cycle bleed

Nabster · 11/03/2009 14:40

My last smear was fine.

I have had mid cycle bleeding before. Rang the nurse, told me a one off was fine but to come back if happened again. Not great at going to doctors and usually get sent away and feel silly. It has happened more than once since.

Aren't very well mentally atm, and am on ADs', could it be that?

What do I do?

School run now so not ignoring anyone if kind enough to reply.

Thank you.

Would not think the ADs are responsible in any way for the bleeding.

Mid cycle bleeding should always be investigated further to ascertain the cause (sometimes cervical erosion causes this or it may be hormonal in nature). It is often not serious but it should be investigated all the same.

If GP is unhelpful ask for a referral to a gynaecologist.

Are you on the pill? I experienced this whilst on the pill, the GP changed teh type and I was fine.

Nabster · 11/03/2009 18:16

Not on the pill.

I phoned the surgery and a nurse is ringing me back tomorrow.

What will they do if I have to go in?

I've always had a few spots of mid cycle bleeding. Never thought much of it. I think it's to do with ovulation?

Nabster · 13/03/2009 08:04

This time was less than a week after my period finished so I don't think it was ovulation.

The nurse never rang anyway.

Was on AD's myself a while back and they messed with my periods - was late when usually on time and a friend also on ADs was late and worried she was pregnant - her GP told her that AD's can mess with cycles. I would see GP and ask if there is any connection between ADs and breakthrough bleeding.

Nabster · 13/03/2009 18:03

I have and he said no.

I have been on them for years though.

The nurse rang me and I am seeing her next week. She was lovely.
