If you have had breast cancer, how did it affect your ability to exercise, energy levels etc afterwards?
I'm asking because I'm a personal trainer about to start training a new client. She had breast cancer last year and had chemo and radiotherapy, plus a couple of ops (not sure exactly what as don't want to be too nosy). She is also taking Tamoxifen.
We are hoping to increase strength and fitness and also go down by 2-3 dress sizes, over a period of 3 to 4 months.
I'm worried about how she can cope with vigorous exercise and how much I can expect from her - after all, part of my job is to push people a bit further than they think they can manage.. It would be awful if I pushed too hard.
If anyone has any experience of this I'd love to hear from them. Btw she will check with her doc about it, but told me she has been given the green light to exercise. I'm also planning to try and find out a bit more on tinternet, but obviously mumsnet is first port of call.
