Stared about 2 weeks ago, when he had a gushing nosebleed which lasted about 15 minutes. He had also started to complain about skin itching for the last few weeks and back pain.He has been on sertraline for a few years now.

Made him go to the gp, he sat down in the chair and had another bad nose bleed. Doctor seemed to think the nose bleed was caused by an infection and gave him cream, reduced his sertraline dose to 50g for the itching and didn't really get round to the back pain as dh was obviously trying to cope with nose bleed. She took his blood pressure which was slightly high and ordered lots of blood tests.
He used the cream for a few days then didn't bother although it wasn't clear how long or when he was supposed to use it and to be honest I don't think he was taking it all in. She just let him go with his nose still gushing and he had to go and sit in the car until it stopped.
He hasn't had the results of the tests yet, but he had another nosebleed last thursday, 2 nosebleeds yesterday and another one this morning.
Since he had a reduced dose of sertraline the itching has stopped and dh is now sure the back ache was caused by him lifting something.

I would go back to the GP, reoccuring nosebleeds are supposed to be examined.

Good luck.

thanks smallships

Have finally managed to get the results of his blood tests and his platelets are fine

Apparently his cholesteral may be on the high side, so he is going back to the doctor next week and if he is still having nosebleeds they will refer him to ENT
