What is wrong with me?!

Hi everyone. I prob should go to doctors but had lots of time off this year so thought i'd see of anyone on here had an idea what was wrong with me/had the same?

My symptoms are:

  • really bad indigestion, feels like cramps right across my stomach - ive had this since saturday permanently
  • my appetite has gone, and whenever i eat anything i feel bloated and uncomfortably full (even tiny bowl of cereal leaves me feeling uncomfortable)
  • whenever i breathe in i get a sharp pain below my lower ribs on left side(feels like how i'd imagine a cracked rib feels like IFKWIM) - and its a lot worse if i breathe deeply
  • my left shoulder and all down my left torso has started to hurt since last night , even when i'm not moving my shoulder - it's take-your-breath-away painful

I just went and bought some rennies in the hope that will ease the indigestion (i think its indigestion, never really had it before).

What does everyone think? i dont know whether they're all linked. The stomach pains are like strong period pains but a lot more widespread. I've just come off period so can't be that... any ideas?

Hope you feel better soon.

Gall bladder?

MuppetsMuggle · 04/03/2009 20:03

Sounds like what my sister is feeling, and has been since last week, but won't go to docs either.

so hugs xx

Most likely to be muscular - to do with the muscles and nerves around your ribs.

I have had this on and off for almost 3 years and at times it is agony. I have had all kinds of tests and scans because I cannot actually believe that it is "just" muscular, but nothing has turned up.

But you must see a GP so they can do tests if necessary and make sure it isn't anything more than that. Loss of appetite is always something to get checked out.

The other thing to think about although I guess very unlikley is an Eptopic pg. I seem to recall that one of the diagnosing symptoms of that is sholder tip pain...ad I guess the period type pains are likely to be another symptom related t ectopic pg.

hmmm.... thanks all. do you know what, slightlymad, as i was writing the symptoms down i did think that. but on the pill etc, dont think i've missed any. although my periods have been very very light and mostly 'old' blood (dark) for the last two months - could it be related?

i just phoned my mums husband who i always forget is a GP (feel embarrassed asking him stuff so never really think i could go to him) and he said it could be a virus of some kind (had a few cold-y symptoms over the weekend) but said i should get to gp asap so they can feel stomach and listen to lungs etc...

Can you put a shout out for Aitch or LissieLou and see what they think - they have experienced this first hand?

A bit of googling suggests that progesterone only pill (you don't say which) is a risk factor, and I think your symptoms have a distinct (but perhaps incomplete) overlap with the symptoms on EP websites - cramping, bloating, shoulder pain.

It is probably unlikely but I think if I was in your position I might be concerned enough to do a pg test to rule it out as it can be pretty serious.

beaniebaby25 · 04/03/2009 21:59

i'm on the combined pill slightlymad. i'm quite concerned now i will pick up a pg test tomorrow just to rule it out. thank you for googling for me i should have done it thanks

No probs.

I want to stress that i think it is unlikely...but it can be very serious and probably very easy to rule out for the sake of less than £10....

beaniebaby25 · 04/03/2009 22:16

yes you're right. plus the docs may ask me and it will help them quicker if i know for sure that i'm not pg.

thanks i appreciate it.

ok well i'm def not pg... negative test this morning... and i can't get a gp appointment until next wednesday evening. Looks like i'll have to find a walk-in centre if it gets any worse...

Sorry to hear you're feeling this way beanie

Can you get an emergency appointment, are you breathless at all?

beaniebaby25 · 05/03/2009 11:13

thanks blissa, not breathless exactly, but i can't breathe in deeply at all. I'm at work but will try and get to the emergency NHS walk-in place this afternoon, or after work if i can't get away.
