Could it be a UTI?

couture1 · 03/03/2009 21:02

Urinary tract infection.

Yes she definately could.

GP in morning.

Lots of water to drink in the meantime, check if she has a temp as well and give calpol if needed.

yep, could def be an infection, get her to the GP

couture1 · 03/03/2009 21:08

Will do first thing in the morning, thank you. She is drinking I type.

I don't know if she would drink it (horrible taste) but a heaped teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda in glass of water takes the sting out of it.
Don't give her anything with citrus fruit in.
The bicarb really works well for the pain but it's hard if they don't like the taste.
Poor dd hope she's better soon.

Cranberry juice - with water may help. But it could conceivably be kidney stones. It's not unheard of in children. I had them post DD and they are really really painful!

MmeLindt · 03/03/2009 21:22

Most likely to be an infection.

My top tip. Get her to wee in a sterile jar before you go to the surgery. I spent an hour waiting for DD to need to wee again last time we were at the GPs.

homicidalmatriach · 03/03/2009 21:25

Also, you can look in the wee - if it has particulates in it, or is pinkish or orangey, it's a good sign of infection. BTW getting a 2 year old to wee into anything sterile is fun, the hospital has special pads to go into the nappy to collect it!

Lubyloo · 03/03/2009 21:26

If you put her in a shallow bath and encourage her to wee in the water it won't be as painful. Definitely take the sample to the doctors so they can test straight away. Hope she gets better soon.

Ive made a doctors appt for this morning, but she has a white creamy discharge now. Poor little mite.

How did you get on? Hope she is feeling better.

I brought in a urine sample and the doctor was able to check on it in the surgery and he said a slight infection, he gave her some antibiotic and she hasn't complained since
