hi....i'm after mooncup troubleshooting please!

its the third period i'm using it for, and its just not right.

i have trimmed the stalk right diown to nothing, but it still feels like its in too low...TMI....if i put my palm flat against my bits, i can sort of feel it..its not out, but sort of there iykwim. it feels like if you don't put a tampon in high enough and sort of pinches.

i tried to put it in higher, but it seems to keep slipping down. its been the same every time i've used it....sometimes i seem to get it right, and its fantastic, but i can't get to do it right every tiome..in fact, hardly ever.

this afo, i even managed to put it in, hurt muself doing it, started leaking everywhere, pulled it out and it was empty...must have missed my cervix area completely!!

have no probs with my pelvic floor...

what am i doing wrong?????

how are you putting it in? - I fold mine - press the 2 sides together and then fold, once inserted it opens out, I also find rotating it once inserted helps ensure it's in the right place. Think it's just a matter of practice... They are fab once you get used to them.

tnks cosette. am doing exactly that, have got a comfy insert method, just find the cup sort of lays too low....

Do you do your wotsit crunching? (It's sunday, I've had a migraine and I really can't remember words)

FeminineWear · 01/03/2009 20:32

It does take a while to get used to, don't give up!
Have you tried the Mooncup helpline - there are some lovely ladies who will help.
I know it is tempting to push it high like a tampon but it is meant to sit low - so that "something there" feeling takes some getting used to.
Good luck x

Can i just ask what the hell is a mooncup and what is it used for ?? It is mentioned a lot on mn and i really havent got a clue what it is!

Lionstar · 01/03/2009 22:02

I use the punchdown fold to insert, but I do find I have to run my finger round the rim to make sure it is sitting over my cervix and has made a good seal. It does sit quite low though, but I can't feel it once it is in position properly.

kingprawntikka · 02/03/2009 09:43

I insert it and then do a couple of pelvic floor squeezes. This pulls it up a little and seems to form a good seal.

chimchar · 02/03/2009 13:22

thanks everyone....

it seems better today. maybe its because the flow is much heavier (tmi/...sorry!) and therefore makes a better seal. it actually squelched when i put it in easrlier and i sort of felt it "suck up" a bit...

i love it...think its ace, but i'm having a few teething problems too......like how to avoid looking like a massacre scene when changing it when its full.

MUMMYTOPEBS>>>>> this is a mooncup....
