Pain and spotting after a smear test - anyone suffered similar?

I have never had any problems with past smear tests.
This one was really uncomfortable, I guess the nurse decided to get as deep as poss!

She warned there might be some spotting, and sure enough there was.
However it is now 4days later, I am still spotting and now have period style cramps and shooting pains near the left ovary.

Bah!

Have I just been lucky in the past, or do you think this is due to heavy handed sampling?

I always get this after smears - because my cervix is in a funny place so they have to go round a corner to get to it - apparently, I've never seen it, it could be in Basingstoke for all I know .

Sounds like the nurse was trying to get a good sample - she's probably had a load of recalls for not enough cells collected, but it's a bit hard on poor you.

Suggest ibuprofen and a hot water bottle on the area - this should help
