since having my ds2 14 weeks ago i was having v v bad headaches that didnt move with pain killers, started getting very light headed/room spinning/head rush and feeling v sick etc etc. Anyway went on for ages so went to doc had blood tests and nothing came up, not anemic etc and i eat and drink regularly. I had put it all down to stress and lack of sleep etc however 2 weeks ago i got up to feed ds and was laying on sofa and got pins and needles/numbing feeling in right foot and it travelled all up my right side inc my hand and then right side of my face. i rang nhs direct who said sounded like migraine and if it carried on go to doc. it went after a while and so i forgot about it. since then i noticed i kept getting the pins and needles/numb feeling randomly particularly in my right foot/hand and my mouth and tongue. doc sent me to opticians aswell to get my pressures done and all ok. gp did a nurological test thing yesterday inclluding touching me with a needle and a blunt end and i had to say which i was being touched with. i struggled abit with my right side. gp said she doesnt thing it is anything sinister however she has referred me to a nurologist at the hosp for more throrough tests. Bit confused, dont know what to expect and what could be wrong. Anyone help me??

It could be migraine. I had extremely bad ones during both of my pregnancies. Numbness in hand and arm and tongue, then pins and needles. dizziness and raging headaches . Also flashing lights in front of eyes and sickness. They are very frightening when they occur. I thought I was having a stroke or something awful . Changing hormone levels and tiredness can trigger them so this could be the case for you. Although awful they are
are nothing to worry about .

To reassure you a bit. My best friend had similar symptoms to you. She had lots of tests including a lumbar puncture and everything came back clear...it was put down to a viral infection, which cleared up in time on its own, slowly mind you but after a few months she was back to normal, apart from numbness in her thumb/forefinger area for a while longer.

Good luck, hope its all ok for you.

It isn't about hearing at all, it's about balance and dizziness.

mad4mybaby · 27/02/2009 09:34

oh, i just googled it and they were going on about hearing and tinnitus.....

I had a lot of these symptoms after having ds2 and had loads of tests, even mri scans. Went on for a while. Turns out it was non headache migraine as the only difference with me was no headache.

I think it was linked to the birth, hormones ect?? I was induced though. No epidural with ds2.

mad4mybaby · 27/02/2009 09:46

gp mentioned possibility of having an mri depending on what nurologist says

They're nothing to worry about. If it's only head then it doesn't last long. I'm sure you'll be fine though and it'll all pass.
