I always take him to the docs (people say i over react!) so thought I would check here first. He is irritable not eating (but is still b'fing), apart from crying on and off all morning he is alert etc. He has a raging temp though and calpol hasn't touched it, I last gave him Nurofen at 7am and didnt really want to give him more nurofen so quickly after Calpol....

Should I be worried Calpol doesn't seem to have worked??

give him another dose of nurofen - you can give both and it is the combination that gets the temperature down
make sure he is cool, cool flannel on forehead, remove extra layers etc.
if it hasn't gone down in 20mins then get to A&E.

phone nhsdirect if you don't want to take my word for it re the giving both nurofen & calpol in combination.

I would take to GP - GP can check for any obvious infections. I'd rather be cautious with such a little one. GP will also advise on what protocol to follow with calpol and nurofen. Keep him cool in the meantime.
