weight loss and alcohol

I have reluctantly concluded that for me, alcohol(even in moderation) and weight loss are incompatible.
I am still going to ww, and I lose a little weight if I stay off the wine but otherwise stay the same or gain a bit.
Not sure if drinking just makes me think "what the hell" and I eat more or if there really is some physiology involved (which I have read).
Anyone found this to be the case?

Fraid so, jasper...

Isn't it just calories? Hundreds of empty calories in every bottle? I think you would have to try really hard to eat hardly anything if you wanted to continue to drink wine and still lose weight.

On me it accumulates around the middle mostly and is accompanied by general middle-aged-spread. I think they should make alcohol patches for us!

Snot fair.

I also have that problem, but if I restrict my drinking to a couple of glasses two nights a week, I can still enjoy the odd tipple!!!
