Hi,

Has anyone had experience of these contraptions (available Boots - their own brand, Aquaflex etc)? I'm 18mths past last preg. but still leak at times, not badly and would like to tighten up, any thoughts?

I've tried the whole Kegels thing but read somewhere you need to do about 300 a day to have an effect, also difficult to know what you're doing right??!

Cheers!

No, you don't have to do 300 a day. (Although, really, 300/day, at one per second, is 5 minutes of pelvic floor exercises, so it's hardly that much, is it!) A pelvic-floor physio tells me the contraptions don't help that much.

You can ask for a referral to a pelvic floor physio from your GP, and they can help you through.

Alternatively, I'll have a dig and find you some good explanations. Ok, this is a good basic explanation.

It also helps if you use your lower abs at the same time - working both sets of muscles helps more, from what I know. Maybe best to start with just pelvic floor, first, though.

Pilates includes a lot of pelvic floor work, too, combined with abs.
