how many 'cups' you fill during your menstruation?

I seem to recall that on average it should be 2-3 cups for a whole period. On my first day I 'fill' 3-4 (a day) and then is it probably 1 per day for 2 days and then hardly anything for the remaining days.

Thinking of seeing GP as 1st day is really painful with lower back and dreadful cramping but not sure what to say

just say that your periods are very heavy these days and could you get checked out. I was checked for anemia (sp?) and had a scan. Needed iron tablets but scan was fine, now take tranexcemic acid (sp?) for the first few days to reduce the bleeding.

VinoEsmeralda · 20/02/2009 23:08

Cargirl- yes I think I will do this.

Wondering if there are other ways to reduce blood loss during period though as dont fancy taking tablets to reduce bleeding IYSWIM.

Just taking ibuprofen has that affect. If you're not ill with it then I don't suppose it's an issue. or try the mirena coil.

Shitemum · 20/02/2009 23:14

2-3 for whole period doesnt sound right.i fill about the same as you but only 1.5 to 2.5 the first day.

VinoEsmeralda · 20/02/2009 23:17

thanks Shitemum good to hear as I agree that is seems to little too

Cargirl- thank you,
I used to take the pill and had very light periods but sex drive became non existent so stopped taking it. Will google Mirena coil and see if that is an option

hmm mirena has got homrones in it but only a small amount

Aefondkiss · 20/02/2009 23:46

my period starts heavily, two - three cups in the first day, then maybe two the next day then it lightens.

I know my period changes with diet and exercise.
