Corpus luteum cysts

For a bit of background i found out i was pregnant two days before christmas 08, had an early scan as i'd had a mirena fitted when got pregnant. I miscarried but the scan showed a large cyst on my ovary.

Had a follow up scan today. the cyst had gone and the sonographer said it was probably a luteum cyst.

so my question is: how do these types of cysts disappear? do they burst (not a pleasant thought), skrink, or what?

i'm not worried just curious.

thanks

I don't know the answer. Have you googled it? I had one two as I was told after a miscarriage. Good luck.

have googled. found things that say they can go away on their own. presumably that means they just shrink?

Yes they just skrink and disappear. I think they are fairly common.

Very common- filled with fluid, or whatever and they just GO.
I havehad 1 for a year which hasn't gone, so have it scanned every few months- but I am post meno so they are keeping an eye on it.

I think they are the 'cyst' that contains they egg before release and will look large if viewed at the right time. They should 'go' ie get released but it some people especially those with PCOS they dont
