Feeling quite disgruntled with Hospital and possibly with the GP surgery, I haven't decided yet

I may/maynot have kidney stones (long story)

So GP sent me to the hospital to have an Xray with some injected dye which took 10 days to come through

I turned up & they refused to do it in case I had an allergic reaction to the dye

So I had a CT scan

I phone the GP today to here that the results of the X-ray were clear (clever that they could tell that, when they didn't do it) & that for more information look at the CT scan results.....which weren't there

So the person I was speaking to said she would speak to the GP & get back to me. I explained I would be out from 1:30 - 3 & she said that it was unlikely to be today. I was a little unhappy about this and suggested that as I was in a fair amount of pain/discomfort I would like a quicker resolution.....so she made me an appointment to see the GP on Monday afternoon

Actually I think I am disgruntled with the surgery too

You need to drink more, it will flush anything out.

KatyMac · 18/02/2009 23:46

Nearly gone (I was delayed because I though the cat was having a fit/heartattack/dying on my knee - poor pussy just has a flea I think - frontline tomorrow)

I'm not drinking loads as I still feel queasy - I guess it is the bug/IBS but I am trying to increase my intake

antihistamines can help with the nausea (seriously).

Have you had blood tests and urine tests?

KatyMac · 18/02/2009 23:48

No - well just the dipstick to diagnose the UTI (how long ago was that? - 2 weekends ago)

GP on Monday will sort it out I guess

Ah. Can you not get an appointment with your GP tomorrow and take another sample in? Ask them to do a kidney function test aswell????

KatyMac · 18/02/2009 23:52

Yes - maybe

I promised DD the cinema as I have been ill/working all week & it's the last day it is on - DH can't take her as he is back on medication again

I have reflexology & reiki in the am so I should feel better by then, maybe Friday DD is at my mums then

Your GP sounds erm... in need of a kick!
Urine tests
Blood tests
abdominal x-ray (no dye needed)
ultrasound
CT scan
In this order, that's what they should be doing. At the point you are now I'd ask for a referal to a urologist as it doesn't sound convincing that your GP's on the ball. If the pain gets very bad, bypass NHS direct and go to A&E. They will do everything they need to (all of the above) if you are admitted. It will sort things out alot faster!

I'm starting to agree

Good luck KatyMac - scrooged advice on this sounds really sensible. Hope you get it sorted somehow and fast x
