Non-Pregnancy Pelvic Scan Fears

Hello,

Sorry to intrude as I am not yet pregnant.

I've been having a few pains directly above my pubic bone, on the left hand side so my GP has referred me for a transabdominal pelvic scan.

I'm so worried. I haven't slept for days with worry.

I'm so scared because I wanted to start a family this year and with this scan it's just frightened me so much that something might show up that will stop me from being able to have children.

I feel sick with worry/nerves...

Is it normal to feel THIS frightened?

It's perfectly normal. Think of it another way. If there's something that can be delt with now and they find it you'd be better off. If you choose not to go and leave it so it gets worse so they can't do nothing, you'd have wished you had gone now but will not be able to turn the clock back.
It's best to get things checked. It's just a test to rule things out, it's standard policy.

Elaineee Your symptoms are identical to mine. I too suffer from pain only in my left side. I have recently had a scan that showed nothing and am being refered to gyne, although gp has suggested that its possible that i can feel myself ovulating (i know complete madness) which is quite common. I have had a bit of endometriosis in the past and a small cyst on the left overy, but nothing on this scan. I have a dd who was concieved accidentally easily.
Please don't worry, like scrooge says it is better to find out when it is possible to treat any problems. Good luck and let us know how you get on x

It's like a numb, tingling type pain that comes and goes. I have it for a few days, then nothing for a few days. Everyone told me it's quite a common sign of IBS but as there is so many other things it can be... I'm WORRIED STUPID!

My scan is 5:30pm tonight so at least I'll not be waiting much longer.

I was wrongly diagnosed for 3 yrs with ibs and it turned out it was gyne but not too serious. Please, please don't worry. It is unlikely to be anything terrible and most things are managable if diagnosed. Have some tea and cake or a relaxing bath.

I had various abdominal scans, cameras up and down and they found gallstones and confirmed IBS. I'm just freaking out because I've been conscious about starting a family this year.

Well thats good, are you feeling happier about it all now? To be honest if you are wanting to start a family, dont worry about the ins and outs (so to speak ) of will it work etc, just get shagging
