i have costochondritis

been having pains in my chest ever sine i had bronchitis 3 weeks ago so went to see gp and told me if have costochonritis.
has anyone else had this ?
anyone know how long it will go on for
its been very scary as it can be confused with the symtoms of a heart attack.

I have had it, but mine was triggered by a car accident (hit the steering wheel), so we kind of knew I was at risk.

it IS horrid, so much sympathy.

mine lasted for about 4wks, and in that time I couldn;t wear a bra so needed fitted vests, which actually made my ribs feel slightly more supported too.

breathing was painful, and laughing reduced me to tears. Thankfully I didn;t have a cough, I imagine that must be awful.

do you have anti-inflamitries(sp??).....I was given volterol.

just been taking ibuprofen
i do feel like i should take my bra off ,im going too as my breasts feel so heavy against my rib cage.

I think you can now get voltorol (diclofenac) OTC. I was ear-wagging at the chemist the other day. But I think it's a low dose. You could ring your GP and ask. They'll always be happy to point you in the direction of OTC drugs if they can .

DD gets it from time to time. Sadly she can't take NSAID as she's one of those asthmatics who is allergic to them. It does pass but the symptoms can be scary.
