Can (possible) Kidney stones lead to D&V (way tmi sorry)

KatyMac · 15/02/2009 19:42

I am awaiting the results of a scan for kidney stones & although the major pain with the kidney is mainly gone I have had loads of pain with D & V which came on this morning.

Here is the TMI bit

I am totally liquid - almost water like D & my last V was quite green

I haven't eaten since yesterday evening & I am not keeping down water or flat lemonade

Normally I would ignore & just say bug but with the kidney stones being around I feel a bit concerned

I don't know but can you maybe speak to the Dr at OOH?

JumpingDizzy · 15/02/2009 19:48

I had a kidney stone problem but didn't get D & V.

I'd ring nhs direct or go to dr soon if I were you. Nhs direct will only tell you to see dr though.

How long has this been going on?

KatyMac · 15/02/2009 20:18

Only since about 8am

If it hasn't stopped in the am I will

I have cancelled work tomorrow

I will go to see the GP tomorrow - I know have pain in my left shoulder - I wonder if it's a panic attack

QOD · 15/02/2009 21:45

I had it with my stones (had them twice )
The sickness with me was a reaction to the pain, it got worse & worse and then PUKE then my other end always joins in:D
So it wouldnt suprise me, I think in a way it's like your body is in shock, your kidney will be draining very slowly, slight build up of toxins etc.
Horrible for you (((hugs)))

cmotdibbler · 15/02/2009 21:47

When my dad had kidney stones he had D&V

Keep sipping fluids - so like a teaspoon every couple of minutes. You will get some benefit from it, and are more likely to keep it down

scrooged · 15/02/2009 21:48

I had the D with my stone last week.

It'll get better for you Katy.

KatyMac · 15/02/2009 21:57

DH will have to drive me to the GP - I can't do it

OP posts:
scrooged · 15/02/2009 22:09

and that's why we get slaves

GrannyAching · 15/02/2009 22:25

Could possibly be an infection, particularly if you've 'passed' a stone. Get it checked.

KatyMac · 16/02/2009 00:55

OK - back up again

So uncomfy & in pain

I don't need this

I can't even keep sips of water down (or in; as the case maybe)

Is the pain controlable with what pain relief you have at home?

KatyMac · 16/02/2009 00:57

Yes it would be but I am frightened to take it

Co-codamol makes me constipated - & I don't know if that is a good idea or not

OP posts:
KatyMac · 16/02/2009 00:58

I threw up the paracetamol I took at about 6

OP posts:
scrooged · 16/02/2009 00:58

Do you have any ibuprofen?

KatyMac · 16/02/2009 01:00

Not allowed it (but I might get desparate enough to go & see if I can find any)

OP posts:
scrooged · 16/02/2009 01:01

Why?

KatyMac · 16/02/2009 01:02

IBS (which seems a bit laughable atm - 3rd pair of knickers in 20 mins)

Look, if you are vomiting and am in pain, you need to give NHS direct a call or call an ambulance so they can get you to hospital and give you some pain relief. As you will be there tomorrow then they will rush the tests through so you'll know what's going on. It sounds like this has gone on for way too long for you, your GP sounds slow and I don't think you should be left like this any longer. I know that you have been feeling like shit for a while and it sounds like you need an admission rather then coming and going to the GP, hospital etc.
If you have D&V then you will be unable to keep any pain medication down, you really do need pain relief by another means if you are in pain.
Don't suffer like this, call NHS direct or call an ambulance to get you to the hospital. Enough's enough. Let someone look after you.

KatyMac · 16/02/2009 01:08

I was already on hold when I read your post

OP posts:
scrooged · 16/02/2009 01:09

It's alright. Don't go for the out of hours. You really do need to be in hospital.

KatyMac · 16/02/2009 01:09

4 hour wait

OP posts:
scrooged · 16/02/2009 01:10

Sod that. Is there someone who can take you to A&E?

Have they assessed you yet? It's a 4 hour wait after you've told them what's wrong. They will rush it through if they think it's serious.
