Wonder if anyone else has experienced anything like this??

The muscle by my left shoulder (between shoulder and neck) is constantly tight, sore to touch and painful. Ive also been getting pains in my chest, not sharp pains but more like a dull ache - and its tender to touch my general breast/chest area.
I had a baby 10 weeks ago, and although ive had this problem in the past (was told it was bad posture/stress etc), it seems to have come back with avengence and is really worring me now its in my chest. Im a bit of a hyperchondriac but i end up convincing myself its a heart attack or some other heart problem! (stupid i know!)
Any ideas anyone?

Do you carry your baby with your left arm? Just an idea.
If you have real difficulty moving or you feel breathless then you must see a doctor.
It sounds like your body is still adjusting after th birth really.

hi, thanks for reply. Yes i do alot of the carrying/feeding/winding with the dodgy arm and shoulder so i guess this could be making it worse. The pain goes from the back to the front accross chest (but only on the left side) and its this that causes me worry!
Has anyone else had any experiences like this?
Thanks

I often get an ache like the one you describe. With me it's mis alignment in the upper spine that throws everything out. The muscles all tighten up and it puts pressure on the rib cage which is why the chest at the front is so sore. My pain is often on the left side and the muscle from the shoulder to the neck very tight.

I would see a doc just to rule out anything else especially if you are worried but it sounds like you need an osteopath to be honest.

It could easily be rib pain. You could go to see an osteopath and they will be able to diagnose if it's actually your heart and refer you to a GP if necessary, or treat you if not!

Thanks, i currently have a heat pack on the muscle and it seems to help but im deff gunna get on the case to find an osteopath in my area.

Emma I notice you are in Southend. I live in Billericay and we have an excellent Osteo practise here if you are prepared to come this way.
Billericay osteopathic practise-01277 634080 There are three osteos there and they are all good. I know loads and loads of people who use them.

I went to the GP today and he diagnosed muscular problems, and thinks its liely to be coming from my neck. I have been referred for an x ray so we'll see whta hat finds. Just got prescribed Ibuprofen in teh meantime. Had my BP taken and that was fine, he laughed when i said i was worried it was my heart or something!!
feel slightkly more reassured now and pleased im finally getting somewhere.
Thansk for the Osteopath links and numbers, am gunna wait to see what the x ray shows then go from there.
