was on the combined pill for about 6 years before switching to minipill when dd arrived and was breastfeeding her. have stopped bf for nearly 6 months now, and was wondering whether i shud just stick with minipill or revert back to combined. any thoughts? which of the two are better re: side effects etc

minipill is better as you dont get any fears re DVT's or anything, but as you know you have to be good at taking it, with the smaller time window

Slave2Babe · 11/04/2005 08:48

combined pill wasnt good for me because of my blood pressure - it seemed to put it through the roof!

as you know, you have to be more careful with the minipill because you have to take within the same hour each day. with the combined you have a slightly bigger window.

not sure about side effects.

have you considered implants or depo?

flamesparrow · 11/04/2005 08:52

Arrgggh, no depo please I have heard so many miserable people on it (including watching my petite sister turn man shaped )

Aaaaaanyway... Pretty much like the others have said, mini pill is better as far as side effects go (as long as it is ok for you now? I had constant bleeding with it), but combined allows more time flexibility

hazlinh · 11/04/2005 09:14

OMG flamesparrow, whaddaya mean man-shaped?????
pls elaborate

well i'm ok on the minipill, periods are light and few...but irregular..i suppose the smaller time-window is getting me down, but i suffer from less headaches with it i suppose.mebbe i shud stick wif it..?

it's very much individual as to which are better re:side effects. for me combined pill is better than mini pill. if you are happy with mini pill even though it's slightly less effective than combined pill, then why not stick with it, if it's working for you?

flamesparrow · 11/04/2005 12:24

Lol - man-shaped... she put on weight, sort of went all bulky and muscular, and stopped going in and out as much like a lady as she used to. She's still never completely lost the weight, but she looks more like a slightly rounded girl now, rather than a bloke

Slave2Babe · 11/04/2005 14:20

oh dear

i've only recently started depo (just had 2nd).

i was on combined but summink went wrong (??) and dd arrived in our lives!!

shall i file some forms to change my name to summink more masculine?

flamesparrow · 11/04/2005 15:18

Lol, hopefully you'll be one of the lucky ones and have no side effects...

If not, might I suggest Jeremy?

nailpolish · 11/04/2005 15:20

i used the depo for a few mths, got an incredible appetite and put on a ton of weight, went right off sex too

hazlinh · 17/04/2005 04:52

the mini pill seems to have killed whatever's left of my sex drive ...is that reason enough to move back to the combined pill??
