Need to get a mole checked - What would you do??

Have a mole that I'm only mildly concerned about but would like to get it checked (I'm a bit on the anxious side when it comes to moles for some reason)

It's not changed in any major way but it feels rough when I run my finger over it although visually it doesn't look scabby IYSWIM?

Now my dilema is I could phone the surgery tomorrow and be seen by a doctor tomorrow, however I have looked at appointments online which I can book in advance and the Dr I would like to see hasn't got any appointments for 3 weeks.

The reason I would like to see her is that she actually works as a dermatologist at the local hospital, so she is the skin specialist for the surgery. I would feel more reasurred seeing a specialist as it were. BUT should I wait three weeks???

Why don't you see a different GP in the meantime?

I would wait to see the specialist if you're not overly concerned, otherwise see another gp first and then see the specialist.

my mum got the all clear from her gp for a blatantly cancerous mole. but cos the gp said it was ok, she wouldn't go back until literally strangers in the street would advise her to see a gp about it. of course, it was a malignant melanoma and should have been treated ages before. luckily it hadn't spread, due to luck not diligence of GP.

see someone who knows what they're doing

God morocco your poor mum!! Thank god they caught it in time.

I will wait I think, I know that if any of the other gp's said it was nothing to worry about it would still bother me. I don't want to take up two appointments for nothing.

I'd wait and see the doctor whos is a dermatologist. I've had a mole removed in the past and i also had one checked recently as it has, over time got bigger and become raised. Any difference in appearance should be checked out.
