Sounds a bit like heat rash but I know that sounds a bit mad in the winter have you used new washing powder or anything? those areas are all pretty sensitive and it could be down to a product? hope it heals soon

MitchyInge · 09/02/2009 11:36

thanks, no changes to laundry stuff so a bit puzzled but have phoned GP as feel a bit grim too

hope it is not something horrible like measles that starts on your head though doesn't it?

Not sure about measles but know that chicken pox starts on your tummy? hope it's nothing serious.

MitchyInge · 09/02/2009 15:39

thanks, GP suspects allergic reaction to something (though she has not seen the rash, just heard my garbled description over the phone!)

feeling bit sorry for self but only because my imagination is generating all sort of 'symptoms'!

Could be chicken pox if you've got sort of clear blisters in the spots. Starts on tummy and spreads outwards

If spreading fast ... could be hives? Ds had this the other week and again started on tummy. If it's hives it's possibly allergic reaction to something, Piriton is what you need for that

If you're feeling brave you could google images or check on the pics on NHS direct

sheilatakeabow · 09/02/2009 20:40

Could be scabies? I seem to recall it starts over your tummy. Sounds more revoltingly scummy and slatternly than it is... honest

MitchyInge · 09/02/2009 20:55

scabies

can you get chicken pox twice? it doesn't look like hives

although all sound better than the 'toxic epidermal necrolysis' I came across earlier googling that is not for the faint of heart!

Google images does indeed require nerves of steel

And yes, you can get chicken pox more than once

I am an idiot, I just tracked down a doctor friend and he is 99.9% sure it is related to a drug I started taking a few days ago at too high a dose - happens to 10% of people apparently

will follow his instructions and see what happens

luckily it is not the potentially fatal condition I feared
