My nails are usually really strong but i've noticed that they are breaking and peeling lately once they get longer than my finger does this indicate a deficiency or is it just the cold weather?

I would try some calcium tablets, has always done the trick for me.

Mine are terrible too - all that handwashing, cold dry air and fumbling about with horses and dogs does not make for glamourous hands. Everytime I wash them I put hand cream on afte, and before I go outside, and when I go to bed I slop piles of cream and wear some very fetching gloves and still my hands are dry and fingernails crappy.....Roll on spring.

It's the cold weather - lots of handcream. I alternate between diprobase and clarins!
