Mooncups...

EyeballsintheSky · 07/02/2009 22:19

Go on, we haven't had a mooncup thread for ages. I had one. I used it once. I hated it so I took it out in the loos of the local Wetherspoons and wrapped it in loo roll to deal with when I got home. I never saw it again...

So I bought another one today, just emptied it for the first time (bleurgh!) and had to cut off all of the post due to stump rub. Please tell me a) that this thing will not disappear up the wizard's sleeve never to be seen to death and b) DH will not wake up in the morning convinced that he has bled to death and no one told him.

Are they really non leaking and as wonderful as everyone says?

mine is the best sanitary protection I have ever used.

Wisp · 07/02/2009 22:24

Yes!! Just don't go to Wetherspoons!

It can't travel upwards, and Ive only had a leak if Ive forgotten to change it. I have very heavy periods and its far superior than anything else I've tried.

stump rub.....

Mine now leaks a bit in the first 2 days - but I only need a liner. It certainly would never stain the bed clothes. Think it's a case of the old pelvics.

CuddlyKelpie · 07/02/2009 22:31

I have used for years - 3 or 4, and it has never travelled north. Not even slightly.

For the first couple of times, until I got the hang of positioning, I used a liner but have never had a leakage problem since.

It is far, far more effective than tampons which often leaked for me.

I bet if you give it a good try for a few months, you will be as evangelical as the rest of us!

girlandboy · 07/02/2009 22:35

It's brilliant, though mine does get hoovered in to higher realms!

I appear to have some powerful suction thing going on in there.

EyeballsintheSky · 07/02/2009 22:35

I want to, I really want to hence the second purchase. I hate everything about tampons and will be delighted if I never have to use them again so I'm determined this time.

Will try to avoid Wetherspoons as well

But it doesn't leak at all.

And I WILL NEVER USE ANYTHING ELSE EVER AGAIN!

EyeballsintheSky · 08/02/2009 11:56

So far so good....I survived an overnighter

Yay! Another mooncup convert. I love mine and would never go back to using tampons.

policywonk · 08/02/2009 11:59

Mine leaks like a sieve. Sorry to go against the consensus, but it does. Mind you, I do have very heavy periods (cup full to the brim every hour or so on the heaviest days).

EyeballsintheSky · 08/02/2009 12:02

Well I shall wait with baited breath. Mind you, since DD I seem to have gone down to a dribble but we'll see.

BlaDeBla · 08/02/2009 12:08

Well, if I had anything else, I would be using it. It is bloody disgusting and I hate it. I have been battling on for about 18 months now, and enough is enough.

policywonk · 08/02/2009 12:10

Bla, it's frustrating isn't it! Especially when everyone on here loves them so much. I think they just don't suit some women. Unfortunately you won't know if you're one of those women until you've shelled out your £18 and persevered for about six months.

EyeballsintheSky · 08/02/2009 12:13

I can see they wouldn't suit everyone. Apart from flow and leakage issues, it brings you very close to it all and while it's natural etc, I'm not sure I want to know the ins and outs of it. And it's messy (TMI). But generally so far so good.

Policywonk/Bla
How annoying. I guess they do not suit everyone. I have a reasonably light flow. PErhaps they are not so great with heavier periods.

I am using mine for the first time this month!!

I have heavy periods and usually have to change a super tampax every 2 hours for the first 3 days and use st's aswell - especially at night. I have been using it for 2 days and now feel confident enough to actually leave the house with it in!! I had a panicy moment yesterday when I couldn't remove it but got there eventually!! I was also a bit bleurgh when I removed it, not sure what I was expecting but it wasn't what I got. I'm over that now and the mooncup and I are getting on great!!

Also, no period pains so far. Hooray!! Oh, and no leaks.

elmoandella · 08/02/2009 16:05

i bought one a few weeks ago. awaiting my first period to try it out!
