I have been diagnosed with a stage 2 prolapse. The consultant recommended a hysterectomy and repair which I am very reluctant to have, obviously. On researching the internet I found a website which said stage1&2 prolapse can be helped with pelvic floor exercises. I also spoke to a friend who is in physiotherapy and she said it was worth a try. Anyway, I have been doing the exercises for a week and there is a definate improvement.!! I was wondering if anyone had any experience of these pelvic floor exercise devices which you can buy, or would it be a waste of money? TIA. xx

Good work with the pelvic floor exercises, fantastic that you are feeling the reward already. To have an improvement in a week I think you have probably perked up the connection between brain and pelvic floor muscles. To increase muscle strength you probably need to keep going with exercises for both fast and slow twitch muscles fibres as described here. Re cones etc, I would keep going for at least a few months, trying to build up the number of fast strong contractions you can do and also how long you can hold the long contractions before adding resistance. It might also help to do the exercises in different positions, i.e. in sitting, lying, standing, whilst walking etc. If you have a gym ball / birthing ball they are an excellent place to do them too.
If you continue to see benefit, fantastic, keep going - forever! If not, it might be worth seeing a specialist 'womens health' physiotherapist to ensure that you are doing the exercises optimally. Hope that helps, good luck

Thank you so much for the encouragement and advice. I hope I can continue to see an improvement. Cant believe the consultant didnt even mention trying this. I had thought it wasnt worth it and everything was totally gone.
