Tonsillitis or just weirdy cold thing?

I have had this cold thing for a week, hacking cough, non-stop if I lay down.

I was getting over it, it was just the lingering cough, the sore throat etc had gone.

Since about 2pm though my throat has been getting worse, sharp pain on one side and feeling like I have got something stuck at the back of my mouth/start of throat. Temp is up and aching lots.

Light too bad to see in there myself with mirror, and DH is saying my tongue is in the way

I know you can't diagnose me, but just a general experience thing, is the return of sore throat and sudden much worse symptoms normal at the end of the virus, or am I likely to be sludging my way to emergency doc in the morning?

do you have a torch???

sounds to me like tonsils tho

will try with the bright light on boy's phone in a bit.

Couldn't see anything much. It has eased a lot with paracetamol. F*ck knows what it is!

ok, have it on good authority that dH and J have the very same thing, (only without their tonsils it feels slightly different I am guessing??)

BUT

they too have one-sided pain, J has been to docs and tis 'just' a nasty virus, DH is moaning and self treating with strong painkillers (which is unherd of for him as he criticises me if I take tabs!).

Yup, I got it at the start of this thing too, wasn't expecting a relapse at the end

Much better today - still hurts, but not like it did yesterday, and not that hideous gagging feeling
