PROLAPSE - anyone on MN had surgery to correct?

I have a prolapse, both front and back wall (means I have bladder weakness and have to push on back wall of vagina to pass bowel movements) sorry if TMI!

Gynae was shocked at this as I have one child only, normal delivery, young (26) and healthy.

He said at the time he was reluctant to put me forward for surgery at the time being as I was young and it would probably need doing again (he said I must have been born with weakness there), and that there were risks involved, but that I would need it doing down the line at some point.

Has anyone had the surgery done? I want it done, can I insist on it??

Yes- 17 yrs ago.
After DC 2.

You could try insisting but may not get it on NHS- I had private insurance. They usually like to wait til family is complete. If you have it done you may have to have C section if you have any more DCs- and it may still come back.

I had 5 days in hospital, catheter for a week as could not pass urine due to swelling etc, no driving for 2-3 wekks, then no lifting for 6 weeks and had to have help at home- DH working from home and family support etc.

I felt fine, but rest is essential otherwise you won't recover very well.

HTH.

Thanks for replying.
We are done having a family, DP has had vasectomy, I get severe HG when pg and we have 3 dcs between us (only one for me but happy with one). Can see shy they may be reluctant to take my word for it though due to my age.

If can't get it done on the NHS, can't get it done at all, have no health insurance and no money!

Didn't know would have to rest so much! Don't know if it puts me off or makes me want to have the op more.

Hello

I was told the same that if i had it done I would need it done again, I have put up with it for a while but am going back to see gynae next wed. Has got to point where I can't stand up for first 2 days of period due to intense tingling/burning/dragging pain.
Will be begging this time - so fingers crossed!

how long ago did you see the consultant? did they offer you other options?

xx
