Pregnant or early menopause?????????

OK, i am 45 this year, have been regular as clockwork with periods, but this month only had a very very slight hint of it on one day only, with a tiny tiny amount of brown discharge on the day i would normally be due on. That's it, nothing since.. (that was a week ago).

ONe slight detail - my husband has had the snip! so chances are it's menopause coming? any ideas anyone? I've also got the tender boobs that i used to get at beginning of previous pregnancies.

seems silly to get a pregnancy test!! has anyone had any thing similar, or have any thoughts please?

suspect it is the latter but you are not going to know til you do a test! If you are more then a few weeks late I would definitely buy a test. You don't have to splash out on really expensive one if you don't want to - sure there are some threads on here about where to get cheap ones.

well in a way this is quite annoying, because i was just about to take the plunge(r) and buy a mooncup!!

Take heart- the peri-meno can last 10 years! so you might use your moon cup yet!
I had my 1st "dodgy" period around 48, but my last (??) was not til 53. You mighthave a whole year of being normal again- that's how I was- and no missing periods or anything til about 6 months before they stopped.

so i may still discover the joys of a mooncup! have been plucking up courage to give it a go. The fact that my 12 yr old dd will surely start her periods soon (judging from other bodily changes and general moodswings she's having) made me decide i should do something to prevent the inevitable increase in sanpro products used in this house. (well, i could insist dd use a mooncup too but i think that's pushing it). The minute i make the mooncup decision, i have a dodgy is-it-or-isn't-it period. THEN i start panicking that i'm pg even though DH had the snip after our third!!THEN i start fantasising about a 4th baby even though i know IT WOULD RUIN MY LIFE!!!!

p.s.

It is possible to have all the signs of a period on its way- sore boobs etc- but no bleeding - when you are peri-meno.
Some women even get cramps etc- they are called phantom periods!
However, given that the snip is not always permanent- some men's tubes rejoin themselves! - you might still like to do a PT.
