Any Doctors or nurses about? What is wrong with me?

Please someone help, I am going mad!

I have occurences of sometimes a few days sometimes a few weeks of terrible smelly wind. It really is appalling and is making my life quite sad at the moment.

I am ok if I don't eat anything - literally nothing at all but last night I ate at about 9pm - had a chicken casserole at a friends house and the wind and smells are awful and I feel lathargic and sick and acidy.

Have sent DH to get me some probiotic yogurt drinks to see if that can sort it out but I am seriously considering just sticking to a liquid diet for a week to see if that helps.

My own doctor is next to useless by the way and cannot offer anything other than I must be eating something that disagrees with me!

Please someone help - it sounds funny but it is really getting me down. Other than this problem I am a fit and healthy 30 (odd) year old!

Would it be related to your period? This happens to me every month just before my period. Lasts a couple of days and that bad I have to sleep in the spare room .

MadameCastafiore · 01/02/2009 10:57

No - It is at the moment a constant thing.

My bottom is very itchy too!

Could it be candida in your stomach?

Irritable bowl syndrome?

It sounds like eating late is not a good idea.

piratecat · 01/02/2009 10:59

worms?

mrsmaidamess · 01/02/2009 11:00

scroll down to the third type of candida symptoms

trixiethepixie · 01/02/2009 11:03

You have my complete sympathies, it is very embarrassing.

Would agree maybe candida (esp if itching too) or ibs. I would talk to your doctor about a diet to see if you possibly have an intolerance to something. Heard charcoal tablets good but never tried it myself.

MadameCastafiore · 01/02/2009 12:26

No piratecat - it's not worms!

Yes that Candida does sound about right - will go to the doctor tomorrow and see if I can actually get him to give me something for it.

Thanks guys - I was getting to the stage where I just feel so bloody sick and smelly and sad!

Have been looking on the tinternet and it recommends something called Threelac - have any of you heard of this?

I don't know much about candida but I suffer from bad wind for other reasons. I find peppermint helps - tea, or capsules called colpermin which you can get OTC or on prescription. But as the other say, better if you can treat the problem rather than just the symptom. Peppermint tea might help while you are getting rid of it.

giardia?

DorisIsAPinkDragon · 01/02/2009 16:38

Have you tried an alternative medical practiotioner? It may be that you are intolerant to something in your diet which results in the wind???

Dh used to have stomach cramps and wind until he went to a chinese dr, who disgnosed his intolerance to milk. Just a thought tho'

hotCheeseBURNS · 01/02/2009 16:39

Try a different gp.

luvaduck · 01/02/2009 16:41

giardia is a very good thought, highlander

wuold def try a course of eradication (metronidazole from GP - don't drink booze with it)

it is much more common than previously thought
