Just had my first copper coil fitted (no hormones allowed here so mirena wasnt an option!)
I was so determined to get out as soon as it was done that I didnt ask all those questions I should have done
The most pressing seems to be: How the bloomin Nora do I check the threads? I am quite a ditzy / baby brained person at the moment so Im afraid I'll need the 'directions' in glorious technicolour so to speak!
Another minor question: Why do I have this achey type of side pain? Is this coil related?
My DH will suffer for my having to go through this, oh yes he will.
Mwaaaaa ha ha ha ha ha [evil witch emoticon]

(Oh, and thanks for any help you can give)

Ummm, well, squat and have a rummage. You'll feel them. You'll be going back for a 6 week check so you could leave it till then.

I've noticed a few aches and pains since having a coil. Since I've had it fitted I've found it harder to err, hold my pee.

Not too keen on it myself. Worst thing is I've had no sex drive since getting it! So it is effective at least

Ok, I'll give that a go! Don't know what Im expecting to find, I presume they wont feel like steel girders so knowing me, I'll miss them! Feel I ought to try and find them so, if I have trouble, I can bring it up at the 6 week check.
I did wake up this morning with what felt like a bursting bladder. I'll keep an eye on that. Last thing I need is more bladder issues.
Sex drive seems ok so far, been too sore to do anything about it yet though! Anything with hormones in sends my sex drive through the floor so hopefully this wont too. Mind you, as you say, effective if nothing else!

oh you'll feel them - like fine wire threads. I have the Marina one, so hormones not really helping.

And sometimes I think I can sort of feel it in there. An odd twinge, or a bit of discomfort. Am not 100% about it.

Have a rummage, they feel like dental floss. They are quite soft so may be tucked up sideways, not pointing straight down.

Crampy pains on the day of fitting is normal, take painkillers and it will settle down over the next couple of days.
