Mirena coil replacement.

I'm (over)due to have my Mirena coil removed. I want another one - it's worked wonderfully well for me - has anyone had this done? I'm assuming I'll get a new one at the same time as having the old one removed.

When I got the first one it took about six months to "settle in" properly, will the replacement be the same?

I had a 'normal' copper coil replaced with a Mirena and they didn't do it during the same appointment. I am not sure if this is practice ir if it was just my surgery, but the doctor explained that they still had to do the swabs for clymidia and wait for the results before fitting the new coil as fitting it could cause the infection to be introduced further up into the uterus.

You have the new one fitted at the same time as removal of the old one and it should then just carry on the same job.
