Just wanting some thoughts really. I had 2 mc last year, after the 2nd one the hospital contacted my gp to say my heart was beating fast. It beats around 100-120 a minute raising to 150-170 now and again, the gp said it wasnt a prob in its self but maybe in a few years cos the heart is a muscle and could wear itself out. I had a 24 hr eeg on and it stayed around this level, however the gp has just decioded to monitor for a while-does this sound right? I am on tablets for irrational thoughts and panic but currently do not feel particularly anxious-could they just think this is the problem? And even if that is the problem can the heart wear itself out?

It just doesn't fill properly when it beats too fast so can be dangerous if left unchecked. The ECG would have shown up any problems though. Certain medication can cause tachycardia. The heart is a muscle so it will get bigger rather then wear itself out (your muscles get bigger if you exercise), however, a heart size should be regularly checked as this is not necessarily a good thing.

The resting ECG may not show the true problem. tachycardia shouldn't lead to the heart getting bigger. It is something that should be investigated with some simple tests such as thyroid function, echocardiogram but I would refer you to a cardiologist. No immediate danger. Are you avoiding excesss caffeine and alcohol?

i have had full bloods done and all ok, might ask to be reffered to a cardiologist cos am thinking of trying for another baby next year so want to know if there is a problem. I dont really drink much to be honest but prob cud cut down on tea x
